We enjoyed a couple more visits from Chalyn this month. She came down the first weekend for Bradley's baptism and Brynnlee's baby blessing, and then she came down the following weekend to see Matt's brother and his wife sealed in the St. George temple.

We have also been having some beautiful weather this month. Bruce spent time a couple of weekends taking the boys on short hikes.

Happy Birthdays this month...
Bradley (8)

Friday, January 1, 2010

We started off the month with Angie's 26th

and Michael's 5th birthdays.

It was a month filled lots and lots of seasonal colds being passed around throughout the family. But, more enjoyably, we spent a lot of time together enjoying the holidays and the activities that accompanied them.

In the beginning of the month, Chalyn had three days off in a row, so she decided to drive down from chilly northern Utah and surprise us with a visit. I was so excited to see her, and I put her to work helping me with some sewing projects for Angie's baby. You can see them HERE.

We also went out to eat, visited (Chalyn likes to spend lots of time with the grandkids--they grow so fast!), and enjoyed the nice weather. The weather was so nice that we even spent an evening having a family pool party at Cody's condo.

During the middle of the month, we welcomed our sixth grandchild (second granddaughter) into the family. Here we are with our newest addition--Brynnlee Kathryn Drake.
You can see posts of her arrival HERE.

Brad and Hiromi hosted a Halloween party for their kids and their friends and invited us to come and enjoy the festivities. Cody showed up with this wig and told their kids that he was Uncle Masayuki--Hiromi's brother. Don't they look like family?

We invited our kids to our ward Halloween party, too. Jake and Desiree enjoyed the trunk-or-treat.

Bruce's shoulder had been pretty much immobilized from bursitis for awhile, and he finally had surgery this month. I had to get this picture of him with Brad in his Halloween costume.

And here are my cute grandkids.

In July, Cody was playing ultimate frisbee with some friends at the park. Cody leaped to catch the frisbee, and another player jumped to block him--crashing into his knee and resulting in a fall. The result?
A torn ACL, surgery, and weeks of recovery and rehabilitation. Who knew it was such a contact sport?

Then in August, Chalyn elected to have surgery to remove one of her bunions.
She, too, had to wear a boot and take time off of work to recover.

Then, while I was at work, I went to use my foot to move a large rug back into position. I ended up twisting my foot and had to take a few days off of work and go to rehab to correct the mistake.

With Bruce's limping as a result of childhood polio, half of our family was crippled--limping from here to there.

We enjoyed lots of family time participating in fall traditions this year. We enjoyed going to the rodeo parades, visiting the animals at the Sun Bowl with the grandkids, and attending this year's Dixie Round Up.

Then the next weekend, we enoyed more time together going back to my roots and attending the Santa Clara Swiss Days festivities.

Some of the kids participated in the 5K, then we watched the parade with my siblings and their families.
Bruce was in the parade with the Snow Canyon Key Club that he helps out with.

And here is our family's cow in front of my sister's house.

The Birthday Girls

We celebrated Mom's and Jayme's birthday as a family on Sunday.

We enjoyed caramel apples and ice cream (in place of cake).

The kids especially enjoyed making their apples.

Jayme had a birthday lunch with her friends today.
More apples... Yum!

Happy Birthday to the
Birthday Girls!

and Happy 5th Anniversary to Chalyn & Matt!
